 Kim’s, Chef Ann Kim’s newest restaurant, is looking for a Bar Manager

Kim’s is James Beard Award-winning Chef Ann Kim’s new restaurant located in Uptown Minneapolis.  Our bustling dining room and bar is the backdrop to a menu filled with craveable Korean American cuisine and delicious classic and unique drinks.  Beneath Kim’s you’ll find Bronto Bar, our fun and lively cocktail lounge which offers a cozy space to enjoy beverages and snacks.  

We are currently looking for a Bar Manager who can contribute their bar skills and expertise while also learning and growing with us as a leader.  If you want to work in an environment where your heart and creativity matter as much as your ability to help a team deliver a memorable experience, we want to meet you! 

What you’ll be doing as Bar Manager:
In this role, you’ll manage service with specific focus on bar menu execution and hospitality, you'll nurture a healthy culture for our talented guest-facing team, and take responsibility for:  

  • Executing the hospitality and beverage program vision
  • Managing steps of service for the main dining room + bar, Bronto Bar, and private events
  • Ensuring quality standards are consistently met 
  • Training, mentoring, and leading an engaged, thriving, high-performing team
  • Managing bar systems and processes to streamline operations, increase productivity, and ensure financial sustainability
  • Collaborating to develop new beverage menus and items
  • Supporting transitions and initiatives within our operations as we grow what we offer to our guests

What you’ll need to be successful in this position:

A passion for people and creating craveable experiences, and also:

  • Effective hospitality and interpersonal skills, along with a willingness to teach, learn, and evolve
  • 5+ years experience in the hospitality industry with a passion for food and beverage
  • 2 years experience in restaurant leadership or team supervision
  • Interest and ability to practice highly active, supportive management style while in service
  • Ability to navigate conflict with heart and integrity
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Basic restaurant and computer software proficiency: we use Toast, Resy, 7shifts, and the Gmail suite
  • Experience scheduling a FOH team is preferred
  • Open schedule including weekends and nights
  • Courage to take risks and embrace failure as part of any creative process, and compassion to support others when they’re doing the same
  • Thrive in an environment focused on growth. Approach new initiatives with enthusiasm and agility.
